How to preview your Instagram profile
- Fill in your profile. Picture, name, username, category, bio and link. The counters follow Instagram’s limits.
- Add your posts. Drop in the pictures you want to post next, or start from the sample. Mark each one a post, a carousel or a reel, and pin up to three.
- Add highlights. Give each circle a cover and a name.
- Look at every screen. Profile, Feed, Reels and Story, in light or dark mode.
Your profile and your plan stay in this browser and are shared with the feed planner, so you can switch between the two.
To see your real profile the way others do, signed out or from a second account, and to plan your grid before you post, read how to preview your Instagram profile.
Profile, feed, Reels and stories
People meet your posts in four places, and each one crops them differently:
- Profile: every post is a 3:4 rectangle in the grid, and your highlights sit above it.
- Feed: the post at its own shape, between 3:4 and 1.91:1, with the caption cut after two lines. Carousels swipe.
- Reels: full screen, 9:16, with buttons over the right side and the caption over the bottom.
- Stories: 9:16. A carousel can go slide by slide, or as the post shared to your story.
Bio, name and picture: what fits
Your bio has 150 characters. Use the first line to say what you post, the second for why to follow, and the link for the next step. The name field is also searchable, so a word about what you do there helps people find you.
Your picture is shown as a small circle with a ring when you have a story. A face or a simple logo in the middle reads best.
