Change a slide’s layout in one click
A layout is the design of one slide. Every layout works with every theme, so the look of your carousel stays the same.
- 01
Open the layout picker
Click the layout name above a slide (its number and name, with a small arrow), the Layout row in the panel, or Change layout in the slide menu. On a phone, tap the Layout tab.
- 02
Find the right one
The picker, “Layout for slide N”, lists All layouts, Favourites, My layouts and groups by purpose, with a search box. Filter by Has a picture or Big number or chart, and switch between Your words and Examples to see every layout with your own text on it.
- 03
Click it. Your words come with you.
Your words are kept and moved into the new layout where they fit. When a layout has options, such as another arrangement or a different number of items, they appear as dropdowns under its preview. Favourites matter too: the AI prefers them when it writes slides for you.
304 layouts, grouped by what they do

One carousel, six layouts
Good carousels change layout when the idea changes shape. A cover that makes a promise, a big number for the one figure that matters, a list for steps, a chart for a trend, a quote for the line you want remembered, and an ending with one ask.
When the AI writes a carousel, it picks a layout for each slide the same way. You can change any of them after.
Which slide does which job? See design tips for the cover, the middle and the last slide, or example LinkedIn carousels with the templates behind them.
Describe a slide. Or show it one.
When none of the layouts is quite what you want, make your own. You get three layouts to choose from.
Describe it
Type the slide you have in mind, such as “A big number with a short note”. It is under Create with AI in the layout picker and on the Layouts page, and under More tools on Home.
Or copy one you like
Add a slide you like as a picture. The AI copies the composition, never its words or photos. From a post you saved, use Use this slide’s layout.
Keep it in My layouts
Save one of the three to My layouts or put it on a slide. Each result uses 1 AI edit. Rename or delete it any time; carousels using it keep it.
The free try has the free layouts. All of them on Pro.
What a Pro layout looks like in the free try
Pro layouts show a lock and a Pro badge. Click one and a window tells you it’s a Pro layout, with the option to upgrade. If a slide in your carousel already uses one, it shows a lock note with Upgrade to Pro and Other layout.
Don’t want to see them? Turn on Hide Pro layouts in the picker. Nothing is ever removed from your work.
Start from a layout, or try a few
Start from a layout
New › From a layout lets you pick the first slide from all 304. On the Layouts page, Start a carousel with it adds a text slide and a call-to-action slide after it.
New versions of a slide
Ask for New versions of this slide and the AI writes it in other layouts and angles. Step through “Version 2 of 3” and keep the best. 1 AI edit.
Text that fits
Auto-fit sizes the text so it fits the layout. Too much? “Too long for this box” offers Shorten to fit.
Every theme
Every layout works with every theme, and with your brand kit’s look.
Every size
Change the platform or size and every slide re-flows: 4:5 or 1:1 for LinkedIn, 3:4, 4:5, 1:1 or 9:16 for Instagram, 9:16 for TikTok.
More boxes, not loose ones
The editor is layout-based: you don’t drop free text boxes or shapes on a slide. Need more points? Pick a layout with more boxes, or add items to a list.
