Text that fits the slide, as you type

Every text in aiCarousels sizes itself to its box while you write. When the words can’t fit at a size people can read, you get a red tag instead of tiny text, and one click shortens it.

Three ways to size a text

Select a text and open the first button of the floating toolbar, or Size in the panel. Most of the time you never need to: Auto-fit is the default.

The size modes in the aiCarousels editor

Size modeWhat it doesUse it for
Auto-fit (default)The layout sizes all the text on the slide together so it fits. The panel shows the size in px.Almost every slide
Fit boxYou drew or resized the box, and the text grows or shrinks to fill it. Drag the handles to change the box.A headline that should fill a space
FixedKeeps the size you set with − and + or a number in px. The box grows with the words.Matching one size across slides

Fit box and Fixed need a text you can move: some parts of a layout can’t be set.

A warning instead of tiny text

Shrinking text until it fits is easy. Shrinking it until nobody can read it on a phone is what aiCarousels won’t do.

  1. 01

    Type, and the text re-fits

The text re-fits as you type, and a box re-fits its words when you resize it. In Auto-fit, all the text on the slide is sized together, so the slide stays balanced.

  2. 02

    See the red tag

When the words can’t fit at a readable size, the box shows a red tag: Too long for this box. The panel says why: “The words don’t fit at a readable size.” What counts as readable? See fonts and text size for carousels.

  3. 03

Shorten to fit, or fix it yourself

Shorten to fit asks your writer to cut it in your voice, using 1 AI edit. Or cut words yourself, drag the box bigger, lower Text size under Slide › Look (50% to 160%), or switch the slide to a roomier layout: your words are kept and moved into it.

  4. 04

    Check before you download

The Download window warns “N text boxes are too small for their words”, and the Ready to post checklist flags text that’s small for a phone screen.

Where fitting happens for you

You’ll rarely think about text size. These are the moments aiCarousels does it for you.

While it writes

The last step of a new carousel is Laying out: “Fitting the words to each layout”.

When you change layout

Click a layout and your words are kept and moved into it where they fit.

When you change size

Switch platform or size and every slide re-flows, in one undo step.

On your first slide

The checklist counts its words. 12 or fewer is the goal, and Shorten it asks your writer to tighten it. Many LinkedIn hooks work as covers once you cut them down.

Words per slide

Want less text from the start? Under More options on Home, pick Punchy instead of Auto, Balanced or Detailed.

For a whole theme

Text size in Customize theme › Fonts sets a percentage for every slide in that theme.

Frequently asked questions

Why is my carousel text so small?

In Auto-fit, the layout sizes the text to fit its box, so lots of words means smaller text. Cut some words, pick a layout with more room, or set Words per slide to Punchy for your next carousel.

What does “Too long for this box” mean?

The words can’t fit at a readable size. Click Shorten to fit (1 AI edit), cut words yourself, make the box bigger, lower the slide’s text size, or choose a layout with more room.

Can I set an exact font size?

Yes. Switch the text to Fixed and use − and + or type a size in px. The box then grows with the words. Fixed needs a text you can move.

Will Shorten to fit change what I said?

It shortens the text in your writer’s voice. If you don’t like the result, Undo brings your words back.

Does the text still fit when I switch platform?

Yes. Changing the platform or size re-flows every slide, and a single undo puts it back.
