How we judged them
We looked at six things:
- The writing. Does it write every slide and the caption, from what sources, and does it stick to the facts you gave it?
- The design. How many looks and layouts, and does every slide come out finished?
- The platforms. Does it make the right sizes for LinkedIn (4:5), Instagram (3:4 or 4:5) and TikTok (9:16)?
- The finished post. Can you see it as it will look in the feed, with the caption?
- Getting it out. PDF and PNG downloads, and whether it publishes for you.
- The price of a normal month, counted in carousels, not credits.
The 7 best AI carousel generators, reviewed
1. aiCarousels: best for carousels written and designed for you
Type an idea, or add a web page, a YouTube video, a PDF, your notes, an outline or slides from ChatGPT or Claude, and one of 19 ghostwriters writes every slide and the caption. Each has its own voice, and the writers never invent numbers, quotes or clients you didn’t give them: they use your facts, or the ones in your brand kit. The design comes from 304 layouts and 95 themes that all work together, with AI pictures in the theme’s style, so you never lay out a slide by hand.
Change the platform and every slide re-flows, with each app’s safe zones built in. Preview shows the real post on LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, X and Threads, with a “Ready to post?” checklist under it. On Pro and Team you post to your LinkedIn profile in one click, or schedule it for the day and time you pick, or download a PDF or PNGs in HD with no watermark. It writes in 27 languages, and the same writers write your LinkedIn text posts. aiCarousels was the first AI carousel maker, in 2023, and it has kept pushing ever since.
Price: Pro is $10 a month billed yearly, or $15 billed monthly, for 60 AI carousels and 100 AI pictures a month, up to 20 slides each, and 10 brand kits. Team is $39 a month billed yearly for 5 seats ($59 billed monthly), with 50 brand kits. The free tools for sizes, previews and PDF checks work with no account. More on the AI carousel generator page.
2. Taplio: best inside a LinkedIn growth suite
A LinkedIn tool for writing, scheduling, analytics and leads, with a carousel generator at 1080 × 1350 or 1080 × 1080 and a free carousel tool with watermarked downloads. Limits: LinkedIn only, its $39 Starter plan “does not include AI writing”, and the carousel generator starts on Growth, $69 a month or $49 billed yearly. More in aiCarousels vs Taplio.
3. MagicPost: best LinkedIn all-in-one with a post library
Built only for LinkedIn: AI posts, scheduling and carousels as a 1080 × 1350 PDF. Limits: LinkedIn only, its $49 Growth plan “closes every AI creation feature”, and carousels need Creator, $69 a month or $39 billed yearly. More in aiCarousels vs MagicPost.
4. Canva: best for designing it yourself
The all-round design tool, with over 1,000 LinkedIn carousel templates and Canva AI and Magic Write to help with the words. Limits: you write and lay out each slide yourself; Pro is US$144 a year. More in aiCarousels vs Canva.
5. Adobe Express: best for quick designs
Adobe’s quick-design app, with a large template library and Firefly AI. Premium is $9.99 a month in the US. Limits: like Canva, it’s a design tool: you write and arrange the slides yourself.
6. Gamma: best if you also make presentations
Makes decks, documents, websites and social cards from a prompt, and exports PDF, PowerPoint, PNG and Google Slides. Limits: for a LinkedIn carousel, its own help says to export a PDF and upload it yourself, and removing Gamma branding takes its Plus plan.
7. ChatGPT or Claude: best for writing the words
Both write good slide text and you may already pay for one. Claude Design, Anthropic’s research preview, makes slide decks too. Limits: you get text, an image or a presentation, not a carousel sized and checked for each app, and every change is another prompt. More in aiCarousels vs ChatGPT and Claude. To finish one, paste the slides into aiCarousels with Import slides › Keep my words, which uses no AI.
How to make an AI carousel, step by step
Here is the whole process in aiCarousels, from idea to post. The platform guides go deeper on Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.
- 01
Say what it’s about
Type the idea in the box (“What is your carousel about?”), or click Add source for an article or web page, a YouTube video, a PDF, pasted text or an outline.
- 02
Pick the writer, the look and the platform
Choose who writes it (the free try uses Auto; all 19 writers come with Pro), a theme or Auto, a length (8 slides is “The sweet spot on LinkedIn”), and where you’ll post. More options sets the goal, the language and how it ends.
- 03
Generate and edit
In 30 to 60 seconds the carousel opens in the editor, caption included. Click any text to change it, or ask for a change in your own words.
- 04
Preview it, then post
Press Preview to see the real post, with the “Ready to post on Instagram?” checks under it. Then Post to LinkedIn, or download a PDF or PNGs for the other apps. Downloads come with Pro and Team.
What a good AI carousel looks like
Whichever tool you use, judge the result the same way: one promise on the cover, one idea per slide, no numbers you didn’t supply, words you’d say out loud, and an end slide with one ask. Here are those checks as a carousel.
