How to preview your Facebook profile
- Add your cover photo and profile picture. Or “Try a sample” to see how it works first.
- Write your name and bio. The counter follows Facebook’s limit: 101 characters for the bio under your name.
- Add your details. Where you work and live show in your intro, as on Facebook.
- Add posts. Write a few, add an image, and see where long posts get cut with “See more”.
- Check phone and desktop, light and dark, and download the preview as a picture.
Your profile stays in this browser. The pictures are read on your device and never uploaded.
Your cover photo on phones and computers
Facebook shows the cover wide on computers and cropped on phones: a phone keeps the middle and cuts the sides. Your profile picture sits over its bottom left. Keep words and faces in the middle of the cover, away from the corner, and check both views here.
Facebook profile sizes and limits (2026)
| What | Size or limit |
|---|---|
| Cover photo | 851 × 315 px (at least 400 × 150); phones show the middle |
| Profile picture | At least 320 × 320 px, shown as a circle |
| Bio | Up to 101 characters |
| Username | At least 5 characters: letters, numbers and dots |
| Post | Up to 63,206 characters; phones show about 240 before “See more” |
Tips for a profile people recognise
- Use a clear face photo. At comment size it’s a small circle: zoom in so your face fills most of it.
- Let the cover say one thing. What you do, or where people can find you, in big letters in the middle.
- Put the point of a post first. On phones only the first couple of lines show before “See more”.
