From an idea to a post ready to paste
Text posts sit next to carousels on Home. Same writers, same sources, no slides.
- 01
Open the Text post tab
On Home, click Text post (marked New). The box asks “What do you want to post about?” Type your idea in a sentence, or add a source: a web link, a YouTube link, a PDF or pasted text.
- 02
Choose where it goes and who writes it
Pick LinkedIn, X or Threads, then the writer (“Auto writer” by default) and the length. Generate, and you see “Writing your post” while your ghostwriter is on it. Pro and Team have all 19 writers.
- 03
Pick the first line
The post opens in the post editor with its live preview. Under the post you get Other first lines, usually three. Click one to swap it in; your old first line goes into the list, so you can swap back. For openings that work, see LinkedIn post hooks.
- 04
Polish it, in the same voice
Rewrite has Shorter, Longer, Stronger hook, More specific, Add a call to action, Hashtags and Fix grammar, plus the tones Professional, Casual, Bold, Friendly and Witty. Or type a change in your own words, like “add a story”. Undo AI brings back the version before.
- 05
Check it, then post it
The counter shows your characters against LinkedIn’s 3,000, and a dashed line marks where “…more” cuts the post on a phone. Ready to post? checks the length, the first line and the hashtags. Then click Copy post and paste it in LinkedIn, or post it straight to your profile.
Written for the part people actually read
LinkedIn shows the start of a text post before “…more”: about 210 characters on a computer, up to seven lines on a phone. The editor is built around that line.
Other first lines
Usually three alternative openings under every post, each from a different angle. Swap one in with a click.
The “…more” line
A dashed line in the box shows where the cut falls on a phone. If your first line is cut, it tells you to make it shorter.
A live preview
Your post as it looks on LinkedIn, X or Threads, on Desktop or Phone, in Light or Dark.
Bold that survives the paste
Bold and Italic use special letters, so they still show when you paste into LinkedIn or X: the same trick as bolding a LinkedIn post by hand.
Ready to post?
Length, the first line, too many hashtags (three good ones beat many), and a nudge to end with a question.
No invented facts
The writer uses what you give it, so add the real story, the real number, the real name. See what to give an AI writer.
Borrow how a post is built, never what it says
Seen a post whose rhythm you love? Give it to your writer as a shape. Your post takes the shape, with your topic and your words.
Write it like a post you like
On Home, with the Text post tab open, click Like a post…. Paste the whole post into “The post”, or click From Inspiration to pick one you saved. Under What yours takes from it you see what was read: how it opens, how the lines break, lists, emoji, bold words, hashtags, how it ends and roughly how long it is.
Click Write it like this. The bar then shows “Like:” and the first words of that post. It never copies the other post’s words, topic or facts. To stop, open the same button and click Stop using it.
Already have a draft? In the editor, open Rewrite › Like another post… and your text is reshaped to match.
One post, three platforms, three limits
Switch platform with the buttons at the top of the editor. The preview and the limit change; the words stay the same until you rewrite them.
Text post limits in the post editor
| Platform | Characters | What the reader sees first | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|
| 3,000 | About 210 characters on a computer, up to 7 lines on a phone, then “…more” | Bold and italic show; the dashed line marks the phone cut | |
| X | 280 per post | The first post of the thread | Longer posts are split into a thread for you |
| Threads | 500 | The whole post, with no cut | Over 280 on X? Threads or LinkedIn may fit it as one post |
On X, the post becomes a thread
X takes 280 characters per post, and bold and italic letters and emoji count double while a link counts 23. So a longer post is split for you, filling each post and breaking between paragraphs or sentences. Each post has its own box, counter and Copy button; “Add a post to the thread” adds one at the end, and “Split” appears on a post that is too long. Copy post copies the first one; copy the next ones from their boxes and add them in X with its “+” button.
A good post is half a carousel already
Click Make it a carousel and your post goes to Home as the source. Pick the theme, the length and the platform, generate, and it comes back as slides.
The same idea, as slides
The post on this page became six slides: the first line as the cover, one point per slide, a strong line before the end, and one ask. Post the text one day and the carousel another, or post the carousel with a shorter version of the text as its caption.
Going the other way, from slides to a post? See carousel to post. From a long article or your notes? See text to carousel.
