Connect once, then Post now
It works from a computer or a phone. You need a LinkedIn account and an aiCarousels account.
- 01
Connect your LinkedIn, once
The first time you post, the window says “Connect your LinkedIn”. Click Connect, sign in with LinkedIn in the small window and allow it. You then see “LinkedIn is connected”, your name and picture, and “Connected until” a date. After that date you connect again.
- 02
Open Post to LinkedIn
You’ll find it as a button in Preview, as “Post to LinkedIn…” in the editor’s ⋯ menu, on a text post, and on the Post button when your carousel is set up for LinkedIn. Made for another platform? The button says Switch to LinkedIn and post: it resizes the project for LinkedIn first, and Undo takes it back.
- 03
Name it and write the caption
Check what will go up (“Your 5 slides, as a document people swipe”). Set the Document title, which shows on the post, and the Caption: a strong first line, a few short lines, a question. LinkedIn takes up to 3,000 characters, and a post needs a caption.
- 04
Check it, then click Post now
The same Ready to post? checks as Download are shown; fix anything red first. Click Post now: “Making the file…”, “Uploading to LinkedIn…”, then “Posted to LinkedIn” with Open the post. It can take a minute to show in the feed.
Pick a time. It goes out on its own.
In the same window, choose Later instead of Now. Your post goes out at that time, even with the app or your computer closed. Not sure when? See the best time to post on LinkedIn.
- 01
Choose Later
Write the title and caption as for posting now, then pick Later instead of Now. The window says “It goes out at that time, even if this tab is closed.”
- 02
Pick the day and time
Pick a date and time, or a quick choice: Tomorrow, 9:00, Tomorrow, 12:00, Tuesday, 8:30 or Thursday, 9:00. The time is in your own time zone, at least a few minutes from now.
- 03
Click Schedule
You see “Scheduled for Tue 14 Oct, 09:00”. The project shows Scheduled in Projects, then Posted once it’s out. It goes out from our side, so nothing needs to stay open.
- 04
See or cancel it in Scheduled
Scheduled, in the left menu, lists what’s Coming up and what went out under Recent. Open the project or Cancel a post; one that didn’t go out has Try again.
Everything you make for LinkedIn
What goes up depends on what you made. The caption always goes with it.
Carousels
Posted as a LinkedIn document people swipe, with the title you choose.
Image posts
Posted as one picture. See image posts.
Video posts
Posted as an MP4. Make it in Chrome, Edge or Safari, which make MP4s.
Text posts
Posted as a plain LinkedIn post. See text posts.
With its caption
The text above your post goes with it, up to LinkedIn’s 3,000 characters.
On your own profile
It goes out as you, now or at the time you pick. Company pages aren’t offered.
The post it makes
A carousel goes up as a LinkedIn document: the pages sit side by side and people swipe through them, with your document title under the slides and your caption above. It is the same document post you would make by hand from a PDF, without the download and the upload.
Want to see it before it goes? Preview shows the LinkedIn post on Desktop or Phone, in Light or Dark, with the caption cut where “…more” falls. More on the checks in ready to post.
LinkedIn profiles only. Everything else, ready to post.
Posting goes to your own LinkedIn profile. For a company page and for every other app, download the post ready-sized and post it from there. The Post button shows you how.
How each post gets where it’s going
| Where | What you do in aiCarousels | Then |
|---|---|---|
| Your LinkedIn profile | Post to LinkedIn › Post now | Nothing: it’s posted |
| A LinkedIn company page | Download PDF | Post it from the page yourself |
| Download PNGs (3:4 or 4:5) | Pick the slides in order in Instagram: up to 20 become one carousel | |
| TikTok | Download PNGs (9:16) | Post them in the TikTok app as a photo carousel |
| X | Download PNGs (4:5) | Post them in groups of four |
| Threads | Download PNGs (4:5) | Attach them in order, up to 20 |
Next to Download, the Post button carries the app’s icon. For any app other than LinkedIn it shows the steps (“How to post on Instagram”, for example), Copy caption and Mark as posted. On a phone that can share files it makes the pictures, copies your caption and hands the pictures to the app in one tap. The full walkthroughs: how to post a carousel on LinkedIn, on Instagram, on TikTok and on Threads.
What the messages mean
Post to LinkedIn messages and what to do
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| “LinkedIn wasn’t connected. Try again.” | Try once more. If your browser blocks pop-ups, the app takes you to LinkedIn’s sign-in page in the same window and brings you back. |
| The connection needs renewing | Click Connect again. Each connection lasts until the date shown under “Connected until”. |
| “This file is 12 MB; the server takes up to …” | Make a smaller file: fewer slides or lighter pictures. Or download it and post it yourself. |
| “That didn’t work. Try again.” | Wait a moment and try again. If it keeps failing, download the file and post it on LinkedIn by hand. |
| “Posting to LinkedIn is off for now” | Posting from the app is switched off for the moment. Download your post and post it yourself; How to post it shows the steps. |
| “LinkedIn takes MP4 videos.” | Your browser makes WebM. Open aiCarousels in Chrome, Edge or Safari to make an MP4. |
| “Pick a time at least a few minutes from now.” | The time you chose is too close or already past. Pick a later one. |
| “Didn’t go out”, in Scheduled | Click Try again (“It goes out again in a minute”) or Remove. Most often the LinkedIn connection had run out: connect again first. |
